A Revealing New
Documentary
Afghanistan: State of the
Taliban
After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the United
States took action against the Taliban, the
Islamic militants who controlled Afghanistan.
Claiming a fundamentalist interpretation of the
Koran, the Taliban employed tactics that violated
human rights, especially the rights of women, and
were contrary to the beliefs of many who follow
the Islaic religion.
This documentary traces the history of the
Taliban from its rise to power in 1996 to its
dominance over the Afghan population in 2001.

MEMORIES
OF WAR
As long as people are jealous, as long
as people are envious...as long as people are
bullies, youre going to have war.
These are the words of one of the American
veterans in this video. They are words that ring
equally true today as the United States copes
with a new war in the 21st century.
Producer/director John Medlin, himself a
veteran, captures the recollections and opinions
of men who fought in past wars: Viet Nam, Korea,
World War II. Watching their faces, listening to
their words and the emotions they convey, becomes
an inspiration for viewers whose lives have been
forever changed by the events of September 11,
2001. For these men, war was a painful even
devastating experience, but a rite of passage
they took on as citizens of the United States.
